From RNC to the heart of Europe
Kelsey Trevett, a former RNC student, has had a remarkable journey since leaving the College. We caught up with Kelsey recently to find out exactly what they’ve been up to.
After leaving RNC, Kelsey pursued a degree in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics at the prestigious University of Oxford. Despite the challenges of navigating university life during the Covid-19 pandemic, they excelled academically and forged strong friendships.
A passionate advocate for social justice and environmental sustainability, Kelsey has been actively involved in the Green Party for many years. They served as the Young Greens Co-Chair from 2021 to 2023 and participated in the 30 Under 30 programme, an initiative that provides young party members with training and development opportunities.
After graduating from Oxford in 2023, Kelsey embarked on a year-long adventure to Brussels, where they worked with various non-governmental organisations (NGOs) focused on community dialogue and social change.
Alongside their guide dog Lacey, they immersed themselves into European life and, while sometimes challenging, it allowed them to gain invaluable insights into European politics, culture and language.
Upon returning to London this year, Kelsey continued their work in the NGO sector, consulting on global health and gender equality initiatives, working with healthcare professionals worldwide to advocate for policy changes and promote equality.
Currently, Kelsey is involved with another London-based NGO, working with 150 local councils to accelerate net-zero and climate policy. Their role involves organising training sessions, conducting research, and advocating for climate action.
Looking ahead Kelsey wishes to return to study and take on a Masters - they have applied to several European universities. They remain passionate about travel and exploration, and they make the most of any experiences presented to them.
Kelsey's story is one of hard work and adaptability, and their journey highlights the opportunities available and encourages others to dream big and pursue their passions.
