Success for Tara and Tim in debut London Marathon
An estimated 40,000 people took to the streets of the capital in this year's Virgin London Marathon. Amongst them was RNC alumna, Tara Wheatley, and her running guide, Tim Broome, who were running on behalf of RNC's sister charity, Blindcare.
Tim and Tara had originally signed up to run the marathon in 2020 when Tara was still a student at the College. Tara had taken up running when studying at RNC and Tim, an employee at the time, had helped set up the College's Running Club and volunteered as a running guide.
With the marathon postponed for a year, and Tara, now a student at the University of Southampton, preparation proved incredibly difficult. Training separately, with only the Farnborough half marathon under their belt as a pair, they completed their debut London Marathon in 4 hours 38 minutes. A magnificent first-time effort.
We are hugely proud of their success and really grateful that they chose to fundraise for
Blindcare
.
Tara and Tim have so far raised over £1500 which will support the education and training of young people with visual impairment. It's not too late to donate via Tara's fundraising page
