150th anniversary garden
A new garden has been completed to commemorate RNC's 150th anniversary.
The garden is the brainchild of student, Aaron Germaney, who decided to undertake the task as part of his Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).
As part of the project, Aaron had to investigate, design and manage the production of the garden and will give a presentation and present a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate the skills he has developed in planning and researching this huge undertaking.
Aaron did quite a bit of the work himself but he also enlisted Dave and Phil from RNC's Estates Team who helped with much of the heavy lifting and digging.
The garden is on a slope and looks out to Venns Lane, so anyone passing will be able to see the attractive new installation.
In the picture below, Aaron is digging out the trenches ready to slot in the railway sleepers to create raised beds.
The sleepers are in and Dave and Phil are filling up the raised beds with soil, while Aaron rakes it over
Aaron spreads the soil evenly with a rake in each of the raised beds
Dave and Phil secure the slabs ready to take the mosaic
