RNC Hereford kicked off their campaign in Pool X with a hard-fought day of matches. They started with a 3-7 loss against Croysutt Warriors, but bounced back quickly to earn a thrilling 10-7 win over Winchester Knights and a tight 5-4 victory against Cambridge Dons. These results placed them fourth overall in Pool X on goal difference.
In Pool Y, RNC Academy showed plenty of spirit across their fixtures. After narrowly dropping their opener 7-9 to Winchester Kings and falling 4-6 to Cambridge Fellows, they finished the day on a high by dominating Oxford Owls in a impressive 12-3 victory. Just like RNC Hereford, RNC Academy ended the day fourth in Pool Y.
There was extra reason to celebrate for RNC Hereford as Alleah Beard Pace was named Player of the Day. Goalball UK praised her performance, noting that this was her first time competing at Intermediate level in the domestic season and that she delivered a brilliant all-round performance. They highlighted her exceptional defensive work in stopping opposition attacks with confidence and control, along with her 3 goals across 3 games, calling it a standout debut and a fantastic start to her season.
Looking ahead, Matchday 2 will take place at the University of Reading Sports Park on the 9th January 2027, where both teams will be aiming to build on this solid start.
