The project titled we:create was held at the Edgar Street football ground, and brought together hundreds of young people to create giant patterns using handheld micro:bit devices.

When the devices lit up, vibrated, or beeped, participants had to respond with actions such as standing up or raising their arms. Across the crowd, these movements combined to create large-scale patterns and images.

Before the main event began, everyone joined in singing Happy Birthday as micro:bit celebrated its 10th anniversary!

It was great fun trying to keep up with the rapid signals, with plenty of laughter along the way. Student Michal said:

‘I had an amazing time. It was great to be part of it, and the addition of the vibration to the micro:bit was really helpful for those of us with visual impairment.’

The event was captured by drone, as well as professional photographers and videographers, and we can’t wait to see the footage and share the incredible patterns we helped create.

Huge thanks to the Micro:bit Educational Foundation team for putting on the event and allowing us to be part of it.
