Welcome to RNC website image
Recognition and appreciation of
progress and determination
Winner of the 'Jumping in with both feet' Award: Matteo Ramsay-Scuderi

During his first year at RNC, Matteo has embraced life at College. Always the first to put his name down for any activity both on and off campus, attending the student bar every week, chatting to everyone, and all done with a smile on his face. Congratulations, Matteo!

Winner of the Contribution to the RNC Community Award: Issy Theophanous

Issy has only been at RNC for a year but has created something for her peers that will live on for many years to come. She has been the driving force behind a new Guide Dog Wash and Groom Room which is being installed this summer. Well done Issy!
Winner of the RNC Language Award: Lexy Ryan

Lexy learnt a language from scratch and is now completely fluent, due to daily constant practice. She leaves us this year with aims of studying and living abroad in Uruguay. Well done Lexy!

Winner of the Sporting Award: Murtaza Jamil

Murtaza's individual progress within sport, and contribution to sport, has been outstanding. He is not only on the England Talent Pathway and Captain of RNC's Partially Sighted Football Team, but is also a coach with the B1 Football Team. All of this whilst managing his Massage studies. A fantastic role model to his peers and an ambassador for the College. Congratulations Murts!
Winner of the Musical Award:
Mildred Lovrie

Picking a winner for this year's Musical Award was simple. A beautiful voice, which won this year's RNC's Got Talent. Huge well done to Mildred!
Winner of the Progress Award: Jack Rooke

Jack has made exceptional progress in just one year at RNC. His commitment to developing his independence and organisational skills has been outstanding. His target to cook a roast dinner independently would have been impossible back in October, but this has now been achieved, including all the washing up! Huge congratulations Jack!
The Award for Best Guide Dog: Leanne Moore and Wanda

Each year we have some truly wonderful guide dogs, each of which are special and amazing, and this year is no different. This year's Best Guide Dog Award goes to a truly special dog, whose years of loyal and devoted service come to an end this week. A dog that truly lives up to her name for the constant 'wandering' in search of food or people to fuss her. Congratulations Wanda and Leanne!
Winner of the Reliability Award: Kia Horner

Kia leaves us this year after four years and will be very much missed. She's always thrown herself into RNC life and can always be relied upon if you need a hand - from work experience on the RNC Reception and the Learning Office to talking to students as an RNC Ambassador. A great asset to any team, congratulations Kia!
Winner of the Work Placement Award: Sienna Sewell

Sienna hugely impressed on her work placement at a local primary school, with the Headteacher heaping praise on her for getting stuck in and being a fantastic role model to the pupils. She has since been offered a weekly placement next year. Huge congratulations to Sienna!
Winner of the Endeavour Award: Sonal Sumaria

The Endeavour Award goes to Sonal, a truly inspirational young lady and someone who has never given up despite challenges and battles along the way. Her determination to succeed in the face of adversity is incredible and her gentle nature and smile will be genuinely missed around College, as she leaves us for the next step of her journey. She has been an excellent role model to her peers and even managed to convince members of staff to have their hair cut to support the Little Princess Trust. A massive congratulations to Sonal!
Progress in IT Award - Highly Commended: Harvey Ford-Simms

Harvey arrived at College with an excellent knowledge of IT, but as a sighted user. He has worked hard to develop his skills in JAWS and the QBraille braille display, and even works with his screen turned off to ensure that he focuses on keyboard commands and navigation. Congratulations Harvey!
Winner of the Progress in IT Award: Kaitlyn Glover

Kaitlyn had no IT skills on arrival at College but through her determination and great work ethic has gradually built her skills to now be a proficient laptop and QBraille user. She can even make images using Bing Ai. A well deserved winner. Congratulations Kaitlyn!
Winners of the External Ambassadors Award: Kieran Clarke and Ayman Hafiz

Ayman and Kieran have given up their time on a number of occasions to talk to potential sponsors and a business networking group, to help the Fundraising Team make contacts and secure funding. Being able to hear the student voice directly, positively and with such passion helps us to communicate RNC's charitable mission in a much more immediate and compelling way. A huge thank you to two reliable and excellent RNC External Ambassadors. Congratulations Ayman and Kieran!
Best Team Award Winners: Massage and Complementary Therapies Team

Congratulations to Evie Gormley, Murtaza Jamil, Karan Khurana, Louise May, Conall Moore, Pippa Pascoe and Liam Wood on picking up the Best Team Award. They have had an incredibly busy year supporting and caring for others in the local community. They are always happy to load their kit into the minibus and use their skills in helping others.

Duke of Edinburgh's Award - Best Navigator: Mildred Lovrie

Mildred's organisation and navigation skills made her a great leader, particularly as she used OS co-ordinates to lead her group to complete their walk around Hay-on-Wye. Congratulations Mildred!
Duke of Edinburgh's Award - Best Camper: Kyron Wyatt

Kieran not only pitched and took down his own tent but supported his peers to do theirs, and then even managed to cook breakfast. Congratulations Kyron!
Duke of Edinburgh's Award - Most Improved: Max Campion

Max went from not being able to stay overnight in the practice expedition, to thoroughly enjoying three days of camping, hiking and guiding other students. Congratulations Max!
The following students also picked up awards:

Winner of the Positivity Award: Wilson Cole-Dellow
Wilson leaves us this year and his positive nature and delightful ability to make you smile will be sorely missed on campus and we wish him every success in the future.

Best Work Placement - Highly Commended: Edesiri Eyeregba
Ed was described by his employer as a delight to have in the office, was extremely hard-working and completed tasks quickly and to a high standard - all with a smile and a can-do attitude. His employers at the prestigious Duchy of Cornwall Estate said he was an asset to the team. Congratulations Ed!
