As well as achieving academic qualifications at RNC, one of the key benefits of joining the College is by far and away, the independence you will gain from being in a residential setting.
You will have sessions in Orientation and Mobility (O&M) and Independent Living Skills (ILS) when you first arrive at RNC. You will have an individualised programme so that we can get to know your skill level as everyone will have different starting points and different end goals.
You will often progress quicker with your mobility at College that at home, as you will be getting more frequent lessons and you will pick up routes quickly around campus as you will be constantly practicing.
Being in a residential setting also means that your general independence is enhanced and you will learn skills such as preparing a meal, washing your clothes, doing a supermarket shop and so on.
