After finishing his last term in July 2025, Shamreaz took a moment to reflect on his time at the College, and wrote this lovely testimonial about his three-year journey:
You always hope that there would be more time, that the end wasn’t approaching so quick. However, the beauty of time is that even as we leave behind places, people, and routines, we never leave behind the feeling of being truly seen, known, and loved.
My three years at the The Royal National College for the Blind (RNC) has changed me so completely and utterly, and words will never do justice to the level of gratitude, appreciation, and love that I feel and experienced whilst there.
I must first and foremost thank all the teachers, volunteers, and RSO‘s who have supported me, and advised me. From business, to EPQ, to IT/ADT, to Braille, to mobility/ILS, and finally, the Sports Academy – the time and effort you’ve spent in relation to my academic and sporting pursuits is honestly surreal, and you are most definitely the cornerstones which allows RNC to continuously move forward.
I would like to thank RNC itself, for providing me with so many opportunities to not only pursue my passions in sport, but also to make lifelong memories. Playing Goalball and Cricket, being part of the Judo Academy, travelling to Berlin in my second year, visiting the Harry Potter studio tour, and going on many weekend activities is only just a fraction of the memories I will carry with me.
When beginning my enrolment into Blind Football, I didn’t envisage the sheer number of opportunities that would be open to me. Playing for RNC was privilege enough, but travelling to Romania, Italy, Greece, Belgium all for the European Blind Football League, and representing England in San Diego is, even to this day, impossible for me to comprehend. Not to mention representing RNC in three consecutive FA disability cup finals, thank you for the countless hours on the football pitch and the belief everyone has shown in me.
Finally, I must thank all my friends for standing by me throughout these last three years, I have no words. Thank you for everything, the memories made, the laughs, the tears, the happiness, the joy, forever loved and never forgotten. This year’s RNC prom was not only one of the best days of my life, but the perfect end to the best chapter of my life
