The Certificate in Personal Growth and Wellbeing is intended for students at Level 1 and is a four-unit qualification that gives you the opportunity to follow the Relationship and Sexual Education (RSE) curriculum fully through the first four units. It also gives you the flexibility to develop your employability skills across a variety of unit content knowledge and skills and apply these in a range of relevant contexts. This qualification sits alongside other knowledge and skills qualifications to form a coherent programme of study or transition programme and is targeted at those who will need substantial additional skills and knowledge to enable them to reach their progression goals, which will not be included in the other components of their programme of study.
The Extended Certificate in Personal Growth and Wellbeing is intended for students at Level 1 and is a seven-unit qualification that covers the RSE curriculum but also allows you to further develop personal skills and behaviours to enhance your employability and develop your emotional health and wellbeing. This qualification sits alongside other knowledge and skills qualifications to form a coherent programme of study or transition programme and is targeted at those who will need substantial additional skills and knowledge to enable them to reach their progression goals. It will support future employability and provide the knowledge and skills relevant for the workplace and 21st century challenges.
The qualifications consist of a choice of 12 optional units that cover a broad range of personal skills and knowledge. The qualification is structured to facilitate a personalised learning programme that supports personal growth. Examples of units covered are:
- Unit 1: Improving Physical Health and Wellbeing
- Unit 2: Understanding Emotional Wellbeing
- Unit 3: Understanding the Role of Relationships in Social Health and Wellbeing
- Unit 4: Understanding Sexual Health and Wellbeing
- Unit 5: Developing Personal Identity
- Unit 6: Understanding Your Rights and Responsibilities
- Unit 7: Finding Ways to be Resilient
- Unit 8: Improving Personal Impact on the Environment
- Unit 9: Financial Commitments
- Unit 10: Using External Opportunities for Learning
- Unit 11: Supporting an Outdoor Learning Activity
- Unit 12: Produce a Personal Progression Plan
These qualifications are intended to be studied alongside other qualifications and learning experiences in a broad range of educational and training settings. They are aimed at your skills and understanding of yourself and your place within society.

The units are designed to build your confidence in learning, working with others and demonstrating personal-related responses within a broad range of activities. You will be given contexts and scenarios to help you develop skills and acquire knowledge through application.

All units are internally assessed and give you the opportunity to demonstrate skills developed through evidence gained in relevant learning contexts. Internal assessment is subject to external standards verification.
The qualifications are graded Pass/Fail.
