A grade 3 in English is preferable, together with an internal assessment that shows that you are working at the appropriate level.
Beth mae'r cwrs yn ei gynnwys?
The GCSE is entirely assessed by examination. There is a speaking and listening component which, although compulsory, does not contribute to the final grade. You will study a range of texts of different types and genres, but the exam is entirely skills-based; there are no ‘set texts’ that you have to answer questions on.

Students are taught in small groups; there is a mixture of discussion and written work. Students undertake lesson preparation tasks as well as formal essay ‘homework’ and exam practice. The A Level coursework unit offers the chance for both supported and independent study.

The GCSE qualification is a gateway to employment and to further academic study. Most universities will insist on a grade 4 in GCSE English.
