Entry requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this course. Although a genuine interest in complementary therapies is essential and is a willingness to work closely with others as the course involves practical application and client interaction. Good communication skills are important and a reasonable level of fitness is required.
What does the course involve?
The main aim of this qualification is to enable you to gain the necessary introductory practical skills in order to build a sound platform onto further training at Level 3 required for practitioners in the Complementary Therapies industry.
You will study the following units:
- Unit 1: Provide basic massage therapy techniques for complementary therapies
- Unit 2: Provide basic reflexology techniques
- Unit 3: Provide basic aromatherapy techniques using pre-blended oils
- Unit 4: Knowledge of anatomy and physiology for complementary therapies
- Unit 5: Introduction to principles and practise of complementary therapies
- Unit 6: Introduction to clinic services and business awareness for complementary therapies
- Unit 7: Introduction to healthy eating and wellbeing for the complementary therapy client
Each unit will be assessed through the completion and submission of a portfolio of evidence which will be made up of written and practical assignments/tasks.
How you’ll learn
Therapies are taught in small groups which promote independent working. Internal and external clinics are all supervised. There is a mixture of theory and practical work which will include interaction with a range of different clients.
Where will it take me?
Upon successful completion of this qualification you may advance your studies to other VTCT (iTEC) or equivalent Level 3 qualifications, for example, the Level 3 Diploma in Massage and Complementary Therapies (as well as other therapies such as Sports Massage, Reflexology, and Aromatherapy).
