We understand that living away from home and taking those first steps into adulthood can be daunting, but it is also an exciting and life changing experience and we’re here to help and support you every step of the way.
Our Residential Team is experienced in helping younger students to settle into College life and have helped a great many young people to overcome the natural anxieties they have about moving away from home and taking those first steps towards being socially independent.
During your Pre-Entry Assessment we will talk to you about living at RNC and put you together with other students of a similar age and with similar interests, so it’s never hard to make friends and find things to do.
Where will I live?
As a student under the age of 18 you will live in either Campbell Hall or Dowdell Hall and will have your own bedroom with en-suite bathroom. You will share the living room and kitchen with a group of four other students, helping you to form small friendship groups as well as the larger ones that form naturally through studying, taking part in activities and being part of The RNC community.
24 hour Residential Support
Our outstanding Residential Team is on hand 24 hours a day, seven days a week to ensure that moving away from home and living more independently is a smooth and exciting process for you.
Both halls have many residential support staff and additional safeguarding rules to ensure that you are safe and supported whilst living at RNC.
Wellbeing Support Officers
RNC’s Wellbeing Support Officers (WSOs) provide dedicated individual personal support to students with additional physical needs, which will be identified during your Pre-Entry Assessment. This may include personal care, additional mobility/access support, completing daily therapy routines and enabling you to develop skills to maximise your future independence.
Getting around campus
You will have one to one sessions with RNC’s Orientation and Mobility (O&M) Team, who will help you to familiarise yourself with The RNC campus so you are able to quickly get your bearings. Our Residential Team is also on hand to help you learn routes until you have developed your confidence.
